Privacy Policy

What We Don't Do

• No accounts required – There's no sign-up, no login, no passwords to remember
• No ads – We don't show ads or share data with advertisers
• No selling your data – Your journal stays yours, period
• Journal content stays on your device – We never send your notes, photos, or sketches to our servers or to analytics

What information does the app store?

Did It stores everything locally on your device:

• Your entries – The text, photos, and sketches you add about what you did each day
• Your settings – Things like your reminder times, colour theme, and appearance preferences
• Your photos and sketches – Images you add or draw are stored in the app's local storage
• Imported Reminders – If you turn on Completed Reminders (iPhone, iPad, Mac), the titles of reminders you choose to import are stored as entries like any other. Did It only reads reminders you have already completed, and never changes anything in the Reminders app

All of this journal data lives on your device. We don't have access to it, and it never leaves your device unless you choose to export it or turn on the optional iCloud sync described below.

iCloud sync (optional)

On iPhone, iPad, and Mac you can turn on iCloud sync in Settings to keep the same days on all your devices. It is off by default. When it's on, your entries, photos, and sketches are stored in your own iCloud account and synced by Apple between devices signed in to the same Apple Account.

Sync goes directly between your devices and your iCloud. There is still no Did It account, and we never see, store, or have access to the data being synced. Turning sync off stops new changes going to iCloud; you can remove the synced copy from your iCloud storage in the app's Settings. Apple's privacy policy covers how iCloud handles your data.

Anonymous usage analytics

We use PostHog (hosted in the EU) to understand how Did It and this website are used, so we can fix problems and decide what to improve. This is anonymous product analytics, not advertising.

We may collect things like:

• App opens, screen views (Today, History, Settings), and which features you use
• Whether an entry was text, a photo, or a sketch — never the note, caption, or image itself
• App version, operating system, and coarse location derived from IP (country/region)
• Which pages you visit on did-it.co

We do not use session recordings, and we do not identify you by name, email, or account. The website uses cookieless analytics, so we do not set a tracking cookie. PostHog's privacy policy applies to the data they process for us.

Permissions We Request

The app needs a few permissions to work properly:

• Camera – So you can take photos to celebrate your wins
• Photos – So you can select existing images from your library
• Notifications – So we can remind you to check in and recap your day (only if you enable reminders)
• Reminders (iPhone, iPad, Mac) – Read-only access to your completed reminders, only if you turn on Completed Reminders
• Siri & Shortcuts (iPhone, iPad, Mac) – So you can add an entry by voice or from a shortcut. Apple processes the request; we only receive the text of the entry you asked to add

You can deny any of these permissions, but some features won't work without them.

Tip Jar (optional in-app purchase)

If you choose to leave a tip, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple. We don't receive your payment details or any personal information as a result.

Your Data, Your Control

You're in complete control:

• Export your data – Use the Backup feature in Settings to export all your entries, photos, and settings to a file you can save anywhere
• Delete everything – There's a "Delete all your data" option in Settings that permanently removes all your entries and resets the app
• Sync is opt-in – Nothing is synced unless you turn on iCloud sync. Otherwise your data stays on your device and is only copied through your normal device backups (iCloud or Google backup, depending on your settings) or the backups you set up in the app

Changes to This Policy

If we ever update this privacy policy, we'll change the "Last Updated" date at the top. You can always check back here.
